So I’ve a WooCommerce store, and since yesterday, out of nowhere, the product images will all disappear and be replaced by the placeholder image. When I click into the product, all the info is gone too, including SKU, categories, and Add to Basket. So my store is basically offline since nothing can be purchased.

Once, when loading the website, I got a 504 error, but that quickly went away and did not come back. Not sure if related.

When looking through product listing on wp-admin, it looked as if nothing had been filled out for each product. Title was there, but no image and all columns empty. No error showing.

It looks as if WC is unable to connect to wherever product info is stored. But pushing it by editing the product pulls it all back. Other images on the website load fine, including product category thumbnails, so it’s not a gallery issue or one with the image files themselves.

Eventually it all comes back to normal, but then sporadically it might bug out again.

Any ideas what this might be?

  • Hi @grahamhopsack,

    Thank you for reaching out.

I understand you’re experiencing issues with your products in WooCommerce.

As you’ve mentioned that the issue is sporadic, this makes it quite difficult to troubleshoot. However, a 504 error might be related to a server timeout. You might want to check with your hosting provider to ensure your server has enough resources to run your WooCommerce store, especially if you have many products.

For in-depth troubleshooting, I recommend creating a staging site and performing the following tests:

    1. Try deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce to see if the issue persists. If it resolves, reactivate each plugin one by one until you identify the one causing the issue.
    2. Switch to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-Four or Storefront and see if the problem continues. If it doesn’t, the issue might be with your current theme.
    3. Enable debug mode in WooCommerce and check the log for any specific errors.

Let us know how this goes.
