Hi Support, I hope you can help me. Have installed your WP External Links, however, we have not been able to get it to work.

A good example page is: https://hikesandmotorbikes.com/best-motorcycle-rides-of-europe/
as this has some comments that have external links.

We have added your technical information below:

We have 3 items in our code snippets, which I disabled but unfortunately, this made no difference.

    Code Snippets
    =============
    Remove noreferrer from existing tags
Prevent WordPress from adding noreferrer to links
Author Bio HTML code enable in admin

The first two of these snippets, our advisors told us that this is what we needed to keep Google and Amazon happy.

The third one is so we can place our own HTML code in our authors BIOs, which works fine.

We have tried clearing cache in WP, Server, Browser, and have tried several browsers, but still no joy.

We are not opening a new window when we click on the Comments Author’s link.

And not 100% sure of how we should be setting up your product for Amazon and Google.

And if we can get it to work, if we still need the 3 “code snippets” I mentioned above.

    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers Don…

BTW. Love the way you do your technical info. A real Gem. You have some smart people on your team.

    Hi,

WP External Links can only update links that exist in the page when it is generated server side. The comments section on your website is loaded dynamically via JavaScript so WP External Links cannot change those links.

The same applies to affiliate links. As long as they exist when the page is generated WP External Links will be able to change them. If they are added or modified after the page is loaded WP External Links cannot affect them.

    Hi Alexandru,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

Now that you have explained that, then perhaps another approach.

Please check out the screenshot at:
    https://prntscr.com/r1t264
I tried adding blank to the URL, but of course, it didn’t work.

But what if you could change the way that this link was handled when fetching from your Database with a Plugin, Code Snippet, or whatever. Is this a possibility?

Also, I know there are so many Plugins around that it is very hard to keep track of them all, but is your “technical information report” unique to your product, or are their similar ones around.

Over the years I have printed out pages of screen dump listings of plugins in my troubleshooting attempts to section isolate problems and the need to deactivate and reactivate plugins, that a similar stand-alone plugin that produces a text file like yours, would be ideal for troubleshooting.

Add to it, things like Database name, and size, and possibly a few other things, and you would have a very nice and useful plugin I feel.

In fact, I would now keep “WP External Links” deactivated until I needed the “Show Technical Information Report” for my troubleshooting. This will also produce a text log that can be downloaded to my local drive for future reference.

    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers Don…
