Product page review tab preventing microdata from being displayed in Google SERP
-
Hi Guys.
I have been operating a WordPress and Woocommerce based site https://www.fluid.no for just over a year. Users are happy, admin are happy and I am happy. The Woocommerce guys are doing a great job providing great solutions!
During operation and maintenance of https://www.fluid.no, I have worked quite a bit with implementing schema.org. I have had the schema.org/Product and schema.org/Offer as part default Woocommerce product page as long as I had Woocommerce, and implemented relevant schema.org code for other parts of the solution 6 months ago.
All the information that I have found on schema.org implementation the web, indicated that it takes time before data shows up in Google SERP. However after almost a year, and no indication of schema.org data showing in Google SERP, I contacted Google and they replied;
Hello H?kon,
Thank you for your interest in rich snippets for your site. Unfortunately, we can’t display rich snippets for your site fluid.no because of the following issue:
Content hidden under tabbing structure
Looking at your usage of structured data markup, we found that the markup was used on pages whose content is shown in “tabs”, and the markup was for reviews are present in tab which is hidden by default. Hidden content is against our guidelines. Marked-up content needs to be visible when the page loads for your site to be eligible for rich snippets in our search results.
Example link: https://www.fluid.no/nettbutikk/prolimit-c4-ftm-steamer-53-mm/
Hidden content: nested Reviews under tab.
Once you have fixed your markup, run your pages through the rich snippets testing tool <https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets> to check for errors. When you’re all set, use the rich snippets submission form <https://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/request.py?contact_type=rich_snippets_feedback> to resubmit your site.As a site owner I want to be able to utilize the advantages of SEO so that I can maximize the potential organic traffic to my site, and product related pages especially.
Are there documented ways of moving away from a tab-based product page, to a non-tabbed based product page, where product description and product review is on the same page? I have found information on how to disable the review tab, but not sure on how to hook in single-product-reviews.php. Has anyone here done that?
