Product Report Issues

    I have one issue and two requests regarding product data.

    The issue:

    For one specific variable product the totals and graph areas load, but the list of variations does not and the download button does not. The product has 13 variations and I compare any two variations in the same date range it loads fine, but it won’t load them all.

    The Requests:

    1. When I download>open a csv, if the data are too specific the filename is too long to open (>200 characters). I can download it and rename it, but my clients aren’t great with having to work around something like that.

    2. You can view the graph by month, but you can’t download data by month. Only by time period. It would be nice to be able to add monthly/daily columns to the CSV.

    @thalpin Thanks for reporting the issue. Could you provide us with a bit more info?

    – What OS & browser do you have?
    – Do you know what the file name cut off limit is for your download file names?

    @wpmuguru The Excel error code says “Rename the file with less than 207 characters.”

    My personal machine is Win7 + Firefox, but I can duplicate the issue on Win10 + Chrome, or High Sierra + Safari. All machines are running the desktop app of Excel 365.

    It takes a little work to generate a report name that long, but adding a custom date range seems to be what sends it over the limit.

    The Excel error code says “Rename the file with less than 207 characters.”

    That’s a limitation of Microsoft Excel vs anything to do with your OS version or web browser.

    I have created a feature request issue at https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-admin/issues/3784 and will close this thread.
