    Hi,

We are using Woocommerce + Divi and Fibosearch + “Product Search Category Redirect”

    Woocommerce version: 6.7.8

    Fibosearch Free version: 1.18.1

Product Search Category Redirect version: 1.1.1

I’m a programmer and not a web developer. This website was created by a web developer who had a falling out with the web site owner – Nathan. I’m a friend of Nathan’s and was asked if I could help getting the web site to go live.

I’m having a bit of a problem with the site search function. Fibosearch plugin is being used along with your “Product Search Category Redirect” plugin.

This site sells collectables figurines and each product belongs to a category e.g. Marvel, Disney, Sailor Moon – there are 20 categories.

A requirement is that when a product is searched the returned result page needs to display a category page banner that the products belong too. This works if you search for one of the category names (marvel, disney, sailor moon etc), however if you search for a part of a product name e.g sailor or mars or jupiter that does not contain any reference to the product category fibosearch does select the correct products but after hitting enter the return result page does not display the correct banner page.

I’m assuming the reason your plugin “Product Search Category Redirect” is installed is to redirect any search query which matches a product category name to the product category page. Shouldn’t this then allow the correct category page banner to be displayed?

I have read your details page attached to the plugin and have tried finding other references on the internet. There’s nothing to be found.

I’m hoping you can help me with this problem.

    Regards,

    Alex Boskov

With Product Search Category Redirect if the phrase searched matches a product category name it redirects the user to the product category page rather than displaying search results.

The category banner you mention is be being added through another plugin/theme functionality which I don’t know the inner workings of – I can only assume that the banner is being displayed based on the search query, however with Product Search Category Redirect the user gets redirected to the category page not a search results page, so i’m guessing that the other plugin won’t display it as it is conditionally displayed depending on the search query, but with Product Search Category Redirect it is redirecting to the category page, not the search results.
