    Hi

Since WooCommerce 8.0.1, formatted sproduct short descriptions like bold or line breaks are not shown anymore on the front end, only raw text.

    Addendum:

I also tried with the default TwentyTwentyThree theme, which still works, as long as I leave the product detail template as it is (with the single product detail block). But when editing the template, I get the option to change it into blocks and when I do that, the short description isn’t formatted anymore as well.

It seems that the product overview block ist now treated as a post excerpt, instead of a product short description.

    Best regards.

    Hi there @microteq ??

Thank you for contacting Woo support!

Since WooCommerce 8.0.1, formatted sproduct short descriptions like bold or line breaks are not shown anymore on the front end, only raw text.

Thank you for your patience! We are experiencing an unusually high volume of support requests at the moment, and that has affected our response times.

I went ahead with trying a short description which included line breaks and bold copy, in my out-of-the-box WooCommerce test site, without any issues. For reference, here is a screenshot of it, in the back-end:

While the result in the front-end is the following:

I understand that you’re overriding the template files, therefore, mileage may vary in these situations, as the added code is custom.

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Please try using the product overview block, instead of the default product detail block. The product detail block has much less options to format the page and you will not be able to reproduce the problem with this one.

The product overview block is the one, which supported formatting and does not anymore, now. It is now formatted like a standard post exceprt instead of the product short description (no formatting and ellipsis after 55 words). Also you have to upgrade to WordPress 6.3 to reproduce the issue.

    Many thanks and best regards.

    Howdy @microteq

Thank you for reaching back, with further details on this.

From what I gather, the product overview block is not part of the out-of-the-box WooCommerce functionality. For reference, I am attaching a screenshot with the options available at the Edit screen for WooCommerce products (minus the Channel visibility option) :

I can confirm that my test installation runs WordPress version 6.3. Furthermore, I went ahead with testing a beefier copy in the short description field. Below are the front and back-end results:

Can you please share a screenshot of what you see at that screen with the product overview block? That will help us understand the issue. Here’s how to make a screenshot:

I hope this is helpful!?Please let us know if you have any further questions about this matter, or if we misinterpret your concern in any way. We will be happy to help you further.

    Many thanks for your answer.

Ok, I think the english name of the block is “product summary”, not “product overview”. When I look into the source of productSummary.php, it comes from woocommerce.

    Here are sume screen shots.

This is the missing formatting of the product short description with WordPress 6.3 and the woocommerce product summary block:

This is the correct formatting with WordPress 6.2.2:

This is the product sumary block, I use in the backend template:

From what I gather, your set-up stays exactly the same, when testing with WordPress version 6.2.2 and 6.3. No other alterations take place. Correct?

    Hello @microteq

Yes, in fact absolutely nothing has changed, except the WordPress version.

Thank you for verifying that. I was able to reproduce this, with a test installation of mine.

Therefore, I went ahead with reporting it below, as it appears to be related with the TT3 theme’s functionality:
