I’ve to report a problem I’m facing with Woocommerce management of product’s stock: if I or the customer cancel an order, the product stock is not properly updated.
In some cases, it will even remove more copy of the ordered product from my inventory, when I manualy cancel the order, with the result that it’ll ruin the inventory, not showing correctly the available amounts of products.

The only fix for now is to manualy change the amount of product available, after cancelling the order.

Would it be possible to fix so that it’ll automaticaly update the stock with the right amount of available products, once I or the customer cancel the order?

    Hi @edicolablack,

Just checking, what version of WooCommerce do you have?

In the meantime, a band-aid solution for this issue would be to install a plugin that can automatically restore stock from cancelled and refunded orders such as https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woocommerce-auto-restore-stock/

    Hi @abwaita,
sorry, I forgot to specify my WooCommerce version: is the 4.9.1(the problem was present already with previous versions).
    On WordPress 5.6.

I’ll check the plugin you linked; thank you for your suggestion.

EDIT: checked the linked plugin; it seems to be abandoned and obsolete. Reading the lastest reviews, it seems to not work properly anymore, unfortunatly.

Would you know any other plugin which the same function, but updated recently to be compatible with the modern version of WooCommerce?

    Hi @edicolablack,

    Thanks for getting back.

I don’t seem to have another plugin in mind with similar functionalities. On the positive side, we’re on a public forum and someone might just join in the conversation with a plugin suggestion.

Coming back to the no-restock after cancellation issue, since you’re using the latest WooCommerce version, it’d good to check whether the issue is being caused by a plugin/theme conflict on your end.

The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Place a test order, check remaining stock. Cancel the order and check whether stock is restored

    ?
If you don’t see the issue, then you know that it was caused by the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin/theme is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, doing the same test order->cancel test after each activation until you find the one causing conflict.

You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

This might take some time, but kindly let us know how it goes.
