Items show up in the media library and on the site.

I’ve seen this when running over HTTPs in admin, but not site wide. You could run the entire site over SSL – setting home and site URLs to the https versions if supported.

I logged in on https:// when the site was created on https://

Go back to log in via https:// — surprise – thumbnails are back lol
