ProductCat. order scrambled

  • Hi, so I’ve been struggling with an issue where the order (set with this plugin) of Product Categories changes to random after using Sort By Woocommerce filters. Why is this happening? My theme author, who helped me with this issue, basically said that the only option is to disable your plugin and set a specific order with CSS.

    The issue did not seem to appear when we did not use Sort By plugins for product archive.

    Talking about it with Woocommerce here when my theme author said it’s a Woocommerce issue. Turns out it shouldn’t be.

    I am sorry for the slow reply. I did take a look at this, but wasn’t sure what the right way was to respond.

    It seems that ordering product categories on the admin page Products > Categories is the right way to order them. I updated the readme, so other people can pick it up when they get into the same situation.

    I don’t think the order of categories on the admin side matters at all. The current order is set with CSS, because that’s what my theme author said is the only way to do it.

    Maybe this issue is entirely on the theme itself, because I’ve never in my life had issues with the order of categories except with Miini. That theme forced me to use this plugin which itself caused issues.

    The order of categories should always be what is set in the admin side, imo. What’s the point of ordering them anyway, if the admin side vs actual site is different (unless you specifically want it that way which would be odd).

    Hi,
    There is no unified way to store the term_order.

    This sorting plugin uses an extra field term_order in wp_terms.
    Woocommerce uses a term_meta field for term_order.
