I am trying to show all products in a specific category. The settings of the “Product by Category” block allow me to tweak the number of columns and lines. When I choose 3 rows, 3 columns, it shows me 9 products (ordered newest first). But if I have 42 products in the category, how does the visitor of the site see the other products?

    Kind regards,

    Wouter

    Hello there,

But if I have 42 products in the category, how does the visitor of the site see the other products?

You should add enough columns/rows so that all products show. The block will not show the pagination to see more products.

Also, if you have 42 products I recommend linking them to the category page instead of trying to show all of them on a page.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

I was not notified of you response, so I could not reply earlier. Please specify what you mean by “linking them to the category page”? Which page do you mean?

    Kind regards,

I mean to send the customers directly to the product category/tag page instead of showing the products with blocks on a page.

This isn’t resolved. His question was how do I show 42 products on a page? Your block editor has a max of 4 columns, 6 rows meaning a max of 24 items is all we can display. On my site I have several product categories that have around 30-50 products and yet cannot show more than 24 or 18 if we set 3 columns. There is no ability to expend this or even have a ‘next page’ to show more items….
It would also be handy long term to allow displaying the product meta fields like category, author, date, even short description etc…

Did this get resolved? I also have created custom product category pages and am using the Products by Category block to display the products. No ‘next page’ or ‘show all products’ please help

We followed the suggestion “linking them to the category page” wereby you basically let Woocommerce generate the page on the fly based on the selections you provide. See this for example: CatalogCaramel

I have similar problem too. I have 44 products in one category but I can only show 24 products in one page. I can expand the columns and rows to 6×6 but this will compromise the overall consistency of my web design.

    EDIT:
So, I found a way around this. I created another page and use “hand-picked products” feature. I manually selected products that can’t be featured in the first page. I added “next” and “previous” button with text at the bottom of each page as a pagination. This will do… as I don’t have hundreds or thousand products at the moment.

UPDATE: You can add more rows in the HTML editor mode. Hope this helps!

I agree with Kevin Trye. This is not resolved. The products by category block is pretty much useless. I can’t show the short description or list all the products in the category. So then I use a category shortcode, but then I can’t limit the short description in the product listing. It’s hard to be a webdesigner…

Hi there folks, just wanted to let you know that we’ve seen the suggested improvements requested here for the Products by Category block including:

    – the ability to show more products than the maximum currently allowed via configuration.
    – the ability to introduce pagination.

One thing we could explore here is improving the All Products block to allow for configuring it to default to specific filtered results for the block (i.e. only show products from a single (or multiple) categories! That way it could meet more wider needs that are not met by other blocks in the library as well.

I’ve created an issue for us to keep this in mind as we plan future improvements for the blocks.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks! I’m sorry the blocks don’t sufficiently meet all your needs currently – but we are paying attention to threads like this to spot ways we can improve things.

My design requires that I have 3 products per row but I can’t have more than 6 rows so I am limited to 18 per page when 24 would be enough for me.

What would solve my problem is to have a setting that would skip over the first x number of results, then I could just add a second category block and set it to start on product #19.

I definitely need this option for our store as well. Some of our categories have hundreds of products and we could really use the list all products/pagination option for the Category Block. Thank you!

I’m stuck with only 9 items under each category then you have to the next page. My Theme doesn’t give me any options to change columns or rows. I really need at lest 30. My theme company told me to post it here. is there any coding I can change or add to fix this. and if so where do i put them. I have tried a few plug ins but with out paying for the i don’t know if they will work and you can spend a lot on plug ins that won’t do what you want them to do.
If there is a good plug in that will do this whats the name.

So is this issue still not resolved? Come on guys, 24 Product slots is not enough. Surely it cannot be so hard to fix this?
