Products not showing on homepage (shop)

Hi.
When the plugin is activated none of the products are coming on the homepage. I get the message:
No products were found matching your selection.
I am wanting to omit a product category from the homepage, which i can see where to turn off on the category page but nothing appears in the shop homepage. The products still show if go through link on menu.
I’m not a web writer, i just do the admin so if you could help in simple text rather than code ??
