Hi. I have an ongoing problem with customers selecting packages that the product won’t fit. I sell antique tools, which come in a wide variety of sizes. I input the product size when I list it for sale. Fairly often, the customer selects a size of package that the product simply won’t fit it — the USPS priority mail small flat-rate box is often the culprit. Why doesn’t WooCommerce check the item size against the box size?

    Hi @tbruce,

Currently, WooCommerce does not have a built-in feature to check the product size against the box size automatically. However, you might overcome this issue by using shipping plugins like WooCommerce Shipping or Table Rate Shipping, which allow you to define shipping rates based on product dimensions.

You can also ask for insight related to those on either the WooCommerce Advanced Facebook group or the WooCommerce Community Slack. Many of our developers hang out there and will be able to offer insights into your question. You can also seek help from the following:

Forgive me for being snarky about this, but I do have WooCommerce shipping installed and it does not help with this (I don’t have the Table Rate plugin). Why on earth would WooCommerce ask me to input the dimensions of the items I sell if it’s not going to make use of them?

    Hi @tbruce,

Why on earth would WooCommerce ask me to input the dimensions of the items I sell if it’s not going to make use of them?

WooCommerce and third-party plugins/services like USPS use this information for shipping calculations. It helps to determine the correct shipping costs based on the weight and size of the product.

I hope this provides some clarity. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
