What if I needed to have some products with a download, and some without a download? How would that work?

Then you can have the {download_list} template tag in the purchase receipt, or link to a page with the [purchase_history] short code on it.

Thanks for the reply! I think it would be great if we can specify no downloads when adding a new product, and it would not assign a download. Is there a place to add a feature request for that?

In general that option doesn’t really make sense, considering the nature of the plugin. It is called Easy Digital Downloads after all ??

What doesn’t make sense is install and configure another plugin to sell digital products associated with no downloads, when this one does a really great work. You might want to create it as an addon, it will be beneficial to many people.

I understand that you don’t want to include physical products, which complicates the process. But digital products without downloads, that would be a great addition.

It’s great to see a plugin author on the forums. Many of them do not reply. Keep up the great work!

Oh definitely, I’m not saying the plugin doesn’t work well for that. We have a lot of users doing exactly what you’re describing. I just mean it doesn’t really make sense as a core feature.

As an add-on it makes perfect sense.

I’m interested in building this myself. I checked the developer documentation and there is nothing mentioned about creating addons (or I can’t find it).

Pippin, I found out that the latest version allows me to create downloads with no products associated, and on the purchase confirmation page, it will show “No downloads found”. That’s what I really need. Great addition!
