Profile Email Form

  • Hello,

    I have installed mingle and the profile system is quite good. However, I need a system like the one used in many forums, where you can click on their profile and there will be a link to either message the user or email them.

    In addition, when a post is created, is there a way to have replies get sent via email to the author INSTEAD of having the comment published below the original author’s submission?

    Anyone got any ideas?

  • If you are looking for more interactive platform somewhat like Facebook, then I suggest you to check out BuddyPress which allows users to view others profiles, send messages, etc.

    However, BuddyPress will only work on WordPress MultiUser Installation.

    thank you very much for your help. Could you please tell me what the difference is between normal and multiuser? How does this impact on my current installation and how easy is it to get this working with a woo theme?

    I’ve installed the plugin, with varied success.

    I’m not sure why, but it doesn’t seem to be working properly and it has pushed some images out of the correct position.

    Any ideas?

    With standard WordPress installation, you can manage a single blog with multiple users.

    However, with WordPress MultiUser installation, you can create or let others create blogs.

    For instance, WordPress.com is a very good example of site run on WordPress MultiUser Installation, so that people can sign up for a free blog and Administrator can edit them all.

    For what you’ve asked, you simply need a social networking platform. So you can install WordPress MultiUser with BuddyPress and disable new blog registrations and allow only user registrations. That way, you’ll have a robust social network on your site.

    However, WPMU is not recommended for beginners and you’ll need to work on some codes while installing and editing.

    Which plugin have you installed? Do you mean BuddyPress Plugin? Well, BuddyPress doesn’t work with standard WordPress installation. It only works with WPMU.

    Requirements

    To run the BuddyPress plugins you will need a couple of things:

    * A working installation of WordPress or WordPress MU version 2.9.1 or greater.

    I read the installation instructions but was a bit confused about what I was being asked to do!

    Hmm… That’s exactly what I said.

    BuddyPress doesn’t work with standard WordPress installation. It only works with WPMU.

    You need to have WordPress MultiUser Installation for BuddyPress to work.

    If you have no plan of switching your site from WordPress to WordPress MU, then it’s simpler and easier to search for WordPress plugins which would suit your needs.
