• I have googled my little heart out and can’t find an answer.

I’ve been searching for a good plugin to show a guild roster and can’t find any that do what I want.

So I thought, hows about I just add the fields in their profile.

But what I want is they select a class and it will display a image when viewing the profile.

I just don’t know how to do this.

I am also running Buddypress 1.8.1

And then I want to be able to display all these profile fields from all users that filled them in on a page called roster.

I very eagerly look forward to finding help.

The one plugin I liked was: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/gw2-chars/

But subscribers could not add their characters, only admins. So it defeated the purpose of getting people to add and display their toons. /cry

Your subscriber role needs to be granted the “upload_files” capability in order to see the add character page and upload images. There are several role management plugins that do this, or some simple code could be executed to add the capability to subscribers.

I’ve no idea if this is an issue here, but allowing random unknown users to upload images is a significant security risk unless it is handled carefully.

Thanks for the rreply. The only problem with that is that they then have the ability to delete any media. So it makes the gw2 characters plugin obsolete for my requirements to allow guild members to add their characters to the roster.

I will keep looking for something that can be done from the users buddypress profile, but then takes that data to display on a page collectively.

Don’t be too quick to give up on the plugin yet ??

Instead of granting upload_files capability, you could grant a custom capability. It’s a minor hack to the plugin so the profile page is displayed to all with that custom capability.

You may still have capability issues when it comes to the actual upload, but there is likely a way around that as well.

I think I have just decided to use profile fields and then use the groups member list to display their game characters names.

Everything else seems so complicated for now.
