Hello everyone, i wanted to ask what kind of information you can share in public in the forum.I can see that some members have a website url in their profile.Is there a way to hide or show information from your profile?

The edit link is also available on the right side of your user profile page.

I think I remember seeing a topic or two that mentioned that some of those fields may not show up right away if your account is still fairly new. While I can’t put my finger on that conversation at the moment, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a couple of discussions about it.

One small related question.Is my email address visible?Is there any option to hide it?

Currently, the only information in your profile that is available to other logged in users is your user name, and “member since” info.

The email address in my own profile has never been displayed publicly.

You mean to reverse decrypt your email address?

No. It’s MD5 hashed and salted.

(ETA: Well, yes, it’s possible, but it’d take a lot of work and be very complicated/difficult and require info you don’t have.)

No, i just meant if there are settings you can change to hide/show or another simple way to find a person’s email from their gravatar : )
