Profile Photo not Uploading

Hi @solernet,

This issue can be caused by some conflicts with your theme or other plugins.
Please try to do a conflict test and see if this issue goes away.
Here is the doc on how to do a conflict test if you are not sure how to do it.
The issue can be also due to your server settings.
Please see our doc on how to troubleshoot Photo/image uploads not working.

As you suggested I did the following:

1) “Conflict Test” – This didn’t resolve the issue.
2) “Photo/image uploads not working” Troubleshooting suggestions – I followed along with each bullet point in order until I got to the 4th one, “Reset the uploads tab on UM settings.” This one resolved the problem.

I’m not exactly sure why the custom settings I made on the Uploads page caused the issue. But is there anyway I can send you a screenshot of the settings and maybe you can shed some light onto what I’m doing wrong with my preferred settings? In the mean time I will leave it at the default settings which is working for now.

Sorry for the late reply I was on vacation.

To be honest, it was 2 months and 2 weeks ago that I did that. I don’t remember if there was a reset button and maybe it was removed in a more recent UM update, or if I just manually changed the setting back to their defaults. Nonetheless, I will provide you with the setting I currently have that are working for me. You can see them at the screenshot linked below. Hope this helps.

I had this same issue with the latest build of Ultimate Member (2.0.23) and latest build of wordpress
first went through the article on their support page https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/114-photo-uploads-not-working
without any joy.

I then found this forum and did my own version of the conflict test as the site was already live and I couldn’t justify changing the theme, etc.
I simply went through each plugin one at a time disabling and retesting until I got the Profile Photo Upload working again.

Long story short my problematic plugin was ‘Fast Velocity Minify‘
Disabled that plugin and retested and photo uploaded without any problem at all.

Hopefully this will help someone a little quicker.

Me too. I have had this problem from the start and am only using the native 2017 wordpress theme. Also tried resetting the Uploads setting to the settings in the screencast above with no luck.

I checked the UM uploads folder and the image has been uploaded to the folder but isn’t showing in the WordPress media library.

Very odd.

also searching for answers on this. Profile image works on upload but when saving it shows a blank image after.

Hi guys, I had the same / similar issue. Mine is working now, make sure that avatar is enabled in your wordpress settings.

On wordpress, go to Settings>Discussions>

Then select Show Avatar

Just done a fresh install of WordPress 5.1 and Ultimate Member 2.036 and getting same issue on updating profile & cover image.

Steps to recreate:

1. Edit Profile
2. Click ‘Upload Photo’ or change cover photo (Modal form appears)
3. Select photo/image
4. Click the ‘Apply’ button
5. ‘Processing…’ buttton appears and stays indefinitely – THE MODAL DOES NOT CLOSE
6. Click background overlay (or click the ‘Cancel’ button)
7. Refresh the page – image has been uploaded

Media library uploads with out a problem – I have NO OTHER PLUGIN installed and using standard TWENTY NINETEEN theme…
