Programically select images for slider

I’m trying to decide if this slider will do the job I need.

I have a custom post type, and I want to have a different selection of images for each post.

Ideally, I’d like to use a single slideshow, but The images would be selected via taxonomy categories, or custom meta for each post, via a custom single post template.

Is this doable? Is there an example I could be pointed to?
