I had a project page named “gl” with “gl” as the slug. I decided to create a new page to create/test a new look in draft.

    Actions taken:
I renamed the old project page “gl-old” and the new page “gl”.
The slug on the new page is correct.
    I emptied trash on pages/posts/projects.
I emptied browser cache; I am not running server cache or a caching plugin.
I deleted the old menu item and added the new. All links display correctly
I reset to “draft” and re-publshed

    But–
Clicking “View Project” still resolves to “gl-old”
From the Menu, the link which is to “/”gl” still resolves to “gl-old”

    Now what?

Okay…kept googling and researching and came up with the answer. If you are running Yoast SEO Premium and change a page/post/project name, check the SEO Redirects.

    Duh!
