• When I click the install.php file in my web server’s file manager Firefox 2.0 keeps prompting me to choose a program to open or download it. And when I choose Firefox to open it, the browser simply displays the code placed inside the file. Ideally shouldn’t I be getting prompts to finish the WP installation? I am referring to “Step 5: Run the Install Script” of the tut posted at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Installing_WordPress.

    That’s the problem.
You should open your browser (FF or whatever) AND write/type the address of the file in the address bar:
    example.com/wp-admin/install.php – hit Enter!

I’ve followed this advice because I was having the same problem of clicking on install.php file in the file manager. However, in the browser right at the top I see the words “Coming Son … ” and a blank browser.

Might this be because I just gave details of the name servers to the company I registered the domain name with – register.com – a couple of hours ago and they haven’t had a chance to update?

I think this must have fixed it because now I have the First Step prompt
