proper permissions

  • I changed the permissions on a lot of my WP files, but for security purposes, now I’d like to chmod them back to what they should be. What should the permissions be for different WP files?

  • I’ve got almost all directories at 755 (except wp-content/plugins and wp-content/themes and subdiretories at 705) and files at 644.

    Your wp-images may need other permissions if you’re uploading images. Also if you’re doing backup, like with the wp-backup plugin from skippy you may need specific permissions on that directory.
