ProPhoto4 theme – top post border

I’m using a ProProto4 theme and I’m trying to use excerpts and separate all the post by adding space between each post. If I do that, is there any way to add an image on top of each post, above the post header, so there is a border completely around each post? Right now by background image has lines on each side and I have a bottom image to cap the border on the bottom, but when I separate the post, the post divider image stays on the bottom of the post above so it looks like my borders just run off the top. I know zero coding, and I think that’s what it will take to add it. I just want to be able to add an image that will stay above each post header. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
