• Aesthetically speaking, having only one button which reads “Tweet” whereas all of the others present numeric values … it’s a *little* ugly but we all know how great this plugin is in it’s intended purpose.

    (by the way, sorry that Twitter did this and you’re forced to deal with it)

    Anyhow … my thought:

    For every social service you include in the plugin, set the base value to zero (“0”). Then, if a counter value is available and it’s NOT “0”, show the counter value.

    If, however, it IS zero … show the word which represents the service’s snazzy little verb of an action, IE:

    Twitter = “Tweet”
    Facebook = “Post”
    Google+ = “Share”
    Pinterest = “Pin”
    StumbleUpon = “Stumble” (? whatever)

    and of course, in the case of LinkedIn, I may be forty+ but I refuse to grow old … so I never use it hahaha. ??

    THE REASON this is a great idea, and mind you I’m perfectly willing to admit that I’m terrible at hundreds of thousands of things but this IS a good idea, IS BECAUSE:

    Showing a zero subconsciously suggests “this isn’t and won’t be popular” and the word “yet” is never included in that concept. By making the value one or more if and only if it’s been shared and having a basic verb appear otherwise, your plugin might present the post or page without that little bit of “Nobody’s ever been here. Nobody’s reading this. This is not an authority resource.”

    Just an idea, overly elaborated.

    Regards.
