    Hello

I have jetpack video press paid version and I want to protect my videos from video grabbers like idm , I downloaded pda gold but it gives error because it can’t protect videos uploaded outside WordPress website! Is there any way to protect my videos from videos grabbers like adding a code or another plugin that works smoothly with videopress because it’s the only issue I have now

  • Hi there,

Disabling the Share link on your videos from the Media Library will remove the download option: https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-videopress/jetpack-videopress-customizing-your-videos/

However, if something is online, it can be copied. While you can prevent direct downloads of your videos via the VideoPress settings, many browser extensions will allow people to still download your videos.

There’s not much you can do to prevent that, and you’ll have that problem no matter what service you use to host your videos.

no, I don’t agree with you

I have been using videocipher and videos were fully protected from IDM download grabber and different browser’s extension, and this is exactly what I’m looking for.

    Hi there,

Videocipher is one encryption method that can help prevent unauthorized access or downloading. Yes, it can help protect your videos from IDM download grabbers and browser extensions, but it may not be foolproof.

Malicious users may still be able to download your videos using other methods, such as screen recording software or by capturing network traffic.

Disabling sharing and downloading via VideoPress can make it more difficult for users to find the video URL. You can also disable right-clicking on your website, which will disable the option of “save video as” and “save link as” options in the context menu.

The point I was trying to make is that anyone that is persistent can find a way to download your video content. This is why major websites still have other legal measures in place to protect their intellectual property.

That said, those malicious users generally only make up a small percentage of potential viewers, so you may not need to worry about them too much.

I got your point, thank you

another question, how can I add a change quality button to videos, I use the default wordpress player and it doesn’t show the quality change option.

I’ve tried using vp player beta version plugin which shows quality change button but unfortunately it gives me “

Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.

” when I try to publish my page edited in Gutenberg wordpress editor which I have to use because I can’t find VP plugin in elementor pro menu (my main page builder),,,

    your help is highly supported

    Hi there

The VideoPress block should work fine with the default block editor. If you’re getting an error, we’ll need to take a look at your site. Since you have a paid plan, you can contact us via this contact form for priority support. Please mention this thread when completing the form.

You can also try the Video block, which also has a video quality setting.
