    Hello,

I just updated to the latest version of the Simple Membership plugin. Then I encountered a problem.

I have a page that shows an overview of custom posts. This page is visible for everyone. I use content protection on the custom posts, so if a visitor clicks a custom post, and is redirected to the page of the custom post, a login is required to view the custom post.

This has worked fine so far. However, after the latest update, the page displaying the overview of custom posts is now also content protected! I.e. a login is required to view the page. This is the page that used to be visible to everyone.

If I remove content protection for custom posts, the page become visible to everyone again.

This is problematic. I need content protection on the custom posts, not the page showing the overview of the custom posts.

I could not fix this via settings in the simple membership plugin, so I had to revert to the previous version (i.e. the site is now back in its old state).

However, I wish to be able to update the plugin. Do you have a suggestion for a workaround/fix?

    Hi,

What plugin version are you currently running in your site?

    Thank you.

Hi, I don’t see anything major in the latest version 4.0.7 that would affect your site.

Do you have the following addon installed in your site?

    Kind regards.

    Hi,

thanks a lot for the answer. I tried the add-on, but it did not solve the problem.

I will look wider, maybe the problem is caused by the plugin creating the custom post which SWPM is protecting.

    Hi,

I just remembered something. Are you using a Divi type theme or plugin in your site?

We also have the following addon that might help you.

    Hi,

I am using Astra theme, but I have created a Child theme for it. The Child theme hosts a Child plugin. The Child plugin includes modifications for the parent plugin, which is responsible for creating the custom posts which simple membership protects.

I did some tests yesterday. It turns out that the problem only occurs when I update the parent plugin makhich makes the custom posts.

After that update, it is like Simple membership considers the entire page a custom post, even though it is just a page which hosts custom posts.

Before updating the plugin generating the custom posts, simple membership allows access to the page, but not the posts hosted on the page, for non-logged in users.

    Makhich = that

I was wondering if you could help me a bit in the troubleshooting.

Can you tell me more about how SWPM evaluates whether a page is a custom post?

    Hi,

Our plugin does not work well with page builder type plugin or theme where the normal content protection isn’t very effective.

Some plugins can add content below the WordPress’s actual post content section. If you are using a plugin like that then the full page protection option will come in handy.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Thank you very much! I also contacted developers of the other plugin. They somehow managed to solve the problem (which was located within their plugin). I have not gotten answer yet on how they did it, but is seems that in the end it was not Simple Membership which caused the issue.

I will return with more info if I learn more which is relevant.

Thank you very much for the support you provided!
