• I noticed that there should be a period at the end of “Proudly powered by WordPress”. That message is usually displayed at the bottom of pages.

Here is an example with the Libretto theme:
“Proudly powered by WordPress Theme: Libretto by WordPress.com.”

I think that this would be betterplus this is what WordPress.com blogs display—:
“Proudly powered by WordPress. Theme: Libretto by WordPress.com.”

This repost in the “Request and Feedback” section is the result of the following email by an Automattic employee:

    Hello ******,

    > I noticed that many of your www.ads-software.com themes lack a period, i.e. in “Proudly powered by WordPress[.] Theme: Libretto by WordPress.com.”, for instance, with your Libretto theme. Notice that the period in brackets is the missing period. However, that period is present on their WordPress.com versions. Could you please update your www.ads-software.com themes to include this period?

Thanks for the notice, however, www.ads-software.com issues or bug reports are handled through the www.ads-software.com site.

Here are some places where you can submit your comment:

    I hope this helps.

    Have a good week-end!

  • If you want to be strictly grammatical, “Proudly powered by WordPress” is not a complete sentence. Phrases like this don’t usually end with a period.

@mkoener, I am sorry to tell you that you are wrong. First, not putting a period is grammatically confusing, because it could be misinterpreted as “Proudly powered by WordPress Theme”. Also, grammar has to be consistent; yet, the next sentence, “Theme: X by WordPress.com.” is neither a complete sentence but still ends with a period. Are you suggesting that we should remove the period at the end of “Theme: X by WordPress.com”? If I really wanted the string to be strictly grammatical, I would have rather suggested a semicolon.

The best place to report this concern/request is not on one of the general forums like this, but the forum specifically for the theme.

In the case of the Libretto theme, the theme forum can be found at: https://www.ads-software.com/support/theme/libretto

It seems the presence of any punctuation is probably entirely up to the individual theme developer. Many of those developers may not speak English as a primary language. Taking that into consideration, even the necessity for the presence or absence of punctuation or grammar would seem purely subjective. Just because one person likes it, doesn’t mean it’s correct or necessary for all.

The good news is, that if you use a theme from www.ads-software.com, you can add or remove any punctuation you like at will to suit your taste. You can even remove the credits completely if you like.
