    Jetpack Mechanic ??

It’s most likely because your site can’t communicate with the Protect API to check if your IP is blacklisted, or whitelisted.

Can you think of anything specific triggering the math fallback? Does it happen randomly, or when you try to log in to your site by clicking on a specific link? It could help us figure out what’s causing your site not to be able to get results from the API.

    Thanks!

    I’m confused.

I have listed IP address ranges in the Protect configuration as white listed… however despite me doing this Jetpack still goes out to your APIs to see if my IP address is black listed?

Are you saying that MY whitelists are apparently not as trusted as the checks being done by YOUR api?

Hi Steve– when the API is inaccessible for any reason, we show the math captcha as a precaution, even to whitelisted IPs.

You do raise a valid point, though, as this isn’t necessarily the best way to handle it, we could prioritize the whitelist even when the API is inaccessible. I’ll take a look at this with our next round of improvements.

    Thanks for your feedback!
