  • The field appears when you’ve activated Jetpack’s Protect module, and when Jetpack can’t connect to the Protect API when someone tries to log in.

Like, the service was down? How can I know more about Protect API works?

The “prove your humanity” string is not translateable yet, but it will be added to the list of strings in the coming few weeks.

If you can tell me when will ne avaiable to translate, I’ll be glad to help.

    Thanks for all information!

Every time someone tries to log in to your site, your site makes a request to the Protect API, and Protect responds to approve or deny the connection. If you get the “Prove your humanity”, it’s most likely because Jetpack Protect couldn’t connect to your site back to send its response. It can be caused by a firewall or security module.

    Hi Jeremy,
I am locked out of my wordpress blog which is on my own domain and not WordPress.com

This is extremely annoying, what’s the quickest way for me to restore my access ?

    Thank you.

Ok – back to basis. I renamed the folder /wp-content/plugins/jetpack to something else and then I was able to login.

I will now get this thing disabled as it’s more annoying then useful.

You can unblock yourself by following the instructions here:

You can disable it by going to Jetpack > Settings in your dashboard, and deactivating the Protect module.

you can follow this link for instruction to disable it

how do I turn this feature on? I’ve activated the Protect module in Jetpack but it doesn’t show up on login.

@estulin It will only appear if your IP has been flagged as malicious.

If Protect is on, all you’ll see as a regular user is a dashboard widget telling you how many attempts were blocked by the Protect module.
