    Hi there.

    I am planning to providing managed wp hosing to my clients.

    The hosting will provide the features similar to WPengine’s.

    It will focus on providing optimized hosting for wp sites by providing customer support and some optimization plug-ins.

    Since the hosting is specifically for WP sites, I wonder whether there are license or legal issues to deal with in advance to have in on sale.

    Not on the WordPress side. It’s all GPL licensed and as long as you maintain the credits then you should be fine.

    What Jan said. That said, I think there is plenty of room in this vertical for new players. Just do yourself a favor and use Cpanel instead of trying to create your own.

    I’m on WPE for a couple of my sites… it’s great, but too expensive for what you get.
