@krstarica No sorry, you’d have to rollback the plugin back to before 5.0

This is the only plugin that requires proxy server. How come others managed without it and you cannot?

Because I was asked by WordPress to remove the API keys from the plugin. Now they are hidden behind ENV vars on my proxy server.

I’m not sure why they haven’t asked the other plugins because they all have hard coded API keys in their compiled source files.

This shouldn’t affect anything on your end, in fact it’s even faster now after running through Vercel.

Since your plugin is very popular, it grabs more attention than others. Also they could have received a complaint from some service regarding hard-coded key.

It would be nice if you could also provide an option to work without proxy, i.e. to use own API keys for each of the services.

You can use your own keys but it still routes through the proxy but it does send your key.

There is a Settings panel on the Instant Images page in WordPress (top right corner).

The proxy not only hides defaults keys but I also modify and normalize the API responses so Instant Images can assume all APIs are formatted the same. makes updates really easy now.

I understand, but my company does not allow using proxy.

Ok, you’ll have to rollback to version 4.6 than.

None of my business, but is the proxy blocked at the company, is that the issue? Images are still downloaded from Unsplash, pixabay, pexels etc. Just the API requests are routed.

Sure, but then plugin won’t be updated.

Cannot rely on single point of failure such as proxy. Also there is a privacy issue.
