public cannot post comments

    When I click on ‘Leave a comment’ on my blog, it does not bring up a page to comment. It does go to the topic page, but there is no box to leave a comment in. I have gone through my options and comments are fully enabled to be posted by anyone. Also all the posts ARE checked to ALLOW COMMENTS
    Settings —> Discussion Settings —> “Allow people to post comments on new articles ” IS ON

    I don’t know what else to check.

  • Have you checked if there are some theme specific settings to enable/disable comments? For example, the theme ‘thematic’ does not display comments for pages even though they are enabled under Settings–>Discussion Settings

    yes – I checked everywhere .. but it IS a theme issue. I switched to a test theme and comments DO work.

    I really like the theme I was using, but seems like the comments function is somehow broken.

    The author’s website is not english, so I cannot even ask him.

    Chances are you have to edit the theme files (index.php, page.php, single.php etc…) to enable comments. Either they are not implemented at all, or the related code is commented.
    What theme is it you’re using?

    I downloaded the theme again and reinstalled it and now it works.
