If a post/page/etc is assigned to the “public” group then everyone should be able to see it right?

Except I’m struggling to understand how a casual visitor is assigned to the “public” group?

Unless a visitor logs in they are not assigned to any group. What am I missing?

There is no “public” group, so you can’t assign a post to it.

Visitors can not be part of a group. Only user accounts can be group members.

Thank you Kento. That explains things nicely. I’m in the process of migrating the site from Joomla and the “public” group was imported from there. Makes sense now.

    Great, welcome to WordPress!

I’d also suggest to check out the docs to get more familiar with the Groups plugin : https://docs.itthinx.com/document/groups/

    Cheers
