• I have just installed WordPress and it seems to be running nicely with one exception.
Only users with the Administrator role are able to view posts made by users other than themselves. If a user with ‘Author’ role creates a posts, and sets it to Published and Public then another ‘Author’ user will see the post listed in their Dashboard but the posts are not clickable. They have to explicitly go to the ‘All posts’ area in order to select ‘View. But if an Administrator user logs in then the posts are clickable directly from the dashboard. Is this expected?

Also, if an ‘Author’ connects to the site using the WordPress iPhone/iPad app, they can only see their own posts whereas an ‘Administrator’ user can see all posits. This definitely seems to be not correct.

Any idea as to what might be the issue here? Any guidance on how to debug this issue?

    Thanks.

That is the expected behaviour. Authors cannot edit any Posts or Pages other than their own.

Okay, thanks. It would be a nice feature if a non-admin user was able to click the post in their dashboard and go to the post in ‘view’ mode. Seems kind of logical to me, but maybe I am missing something.

The WordPress App seems to have some issues in this area as well. When an author user connects via the App they only see their own posts / pages and not all public posts pages. Is this expected? Or is this not the right place to ask questions about the App?

    Thanks again.

    Nope. ?? Try https://iphone.forums.www.ads-software.com/

Actually, I think there may be a bug. I have a user who originally had ‘Administrator’ role and then I changed that user’s role to ‘Author’. Now they can only see their own posts even in the ‘All Posts’ area. So maybe the issue is specific to this user and is because their role was changed. If I create a new user and grant them ‘Author’ role then they can see all Public posts. Is there any way to correct the problem with this user or do I need to delete them and re-create them? Is changing a user’s role meant to work properly or is it something to be cautious of?

Deleting the user and re-creating them with all the same settings but starting off as ‘Author’ fixed the post visibility problem. This seems like a bug to me…
