Public Posts vs. Posts for My Friends

I am wondering if it is possible that wordpress would support having blogs that are only visible to people who are logged in. For example, I want to write about anything but only want my friends who are logged in to my site to see the entries. Other entries can be marked as for public use you don’t need log in to view them.
This is different from private blogs, which are only visible to the person who created it them.
