    Hi there,

I’ve been using Publicize with Jetpack for years with no problems, allowing my posts to appear instantly on Twitter.

Since yesterday, suddenly it doesn’t work any more. When I try to write a post, I get the message:
“Please update the following connection(s) before you hit publish to ensure we can “publish” your post” (translated from german message).

I disconnected and reconnected using the “Refresh connection with Twitter” button on the WordPress “Marketing and Integrations” page. Unfortunately without success. The message appeared again.

    Error-Message: https://www.welfenmail.de/jetpack_error_publicize.jpg

To be sure that it’s not an error of my WordPress main-installation, I created a fresh WordPress version as a test. Besides WordPress, I only installed the AddOns “Jetpack”, “Akismet Anti-Spam” and “Advanced Editor Tools (formerly TinyMCE Advanced)”. The connection to Twitter doesn’t work here either. Same error-message occur, if I want to create a post. So there must be a problem with the Jetpack-Plugin, I think.

The same error also occurred with different browsers (Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera). Cache and cookies were cleared each time. Incidentally, the error message also appears after connecting to a Facebook- or LinkedIn-Account.

Can you identify what might be causing this error? It’s only going to be a problem with WordPress/Jetpack.

    Thanks,
    Andy

  • Hi @bviadmin

You had been experiencing issues with Publicize on Twitter just yesterday. You mentioned refreshing the connection, but did you get the chance to disconnect the Twitter connection completely and follow the troubleshooting steps suggested in our documentation? You can find those below:

    https://jetpack.com/support/publicize/twitter/#troubleshooting-publicize-twitter-connections

The connection itself on our end looks healthy, even for your Twitter account, so it’s worth going through the troubleshooting steps. If that persists, then I’d suggest testing with the default WordPress editor, Gutenberg, if you are currently on the Classic Editor.

Let us know how this goes.

    Thanks for your reply.

    1.
I did all points of “Connect your site to your Twitter account”. At the end I went back to the editor. No error-massage occur. So I wrote a post and publish it. Even now no error message. Then I checked my Twitter account, there was no tweet of my post. Then I went back to the editor, to create a new post. Now the error-Massage occur again. This didn’t help.

    2.
Then I exactly follow all steps for “Reconnecting Twitter”. At the end, when I call the editor, the error-message occour again. This didn’t help, too.

    3.
I checked the connection with Debug-Tool. Everything looked fine for all websites.

    4.
Then I checked 1. and 2. with the “Gutenberg”-Editor (normally I can’t and don’t want to use the “Gutenberg” because it’s much too cumbersome and impractical for my purposes). I didn’t see any error message, but the post didn’t appear on my Twitter account either.

I checked this with my three twitter accounts. Everywhere the same. I even reset my internet connection. Nothing helps.

At last I try all things before from a nearly blank old PC, without any antivir or firewall-software, to avoid blockages. Again, the same result with the error message that the connection to Twitter (or facebook, or linkedin) should be updated.

I really don’t know what else to do. That this behavior suddenly appeared yesterday is very strange, after I had never had any problems with publicize before.

Addendum: Now, after about an hour, the first test post of 1. (when no error-messages occur) is suddenly visible in my Twitter account. As it turns out, Twitter seems to be the problem here. Otherwise the same happend with facebook and linkedin! So I have no idea, what happened here.

Addendum2: As a very last check now 2 hours later, I did a standard WordPress installation for testing again. However, not with my standard provider “Strato”, but with my second provider “Netcup”. And surprise: Publicize worked perfectly, and the posts were immediately as tweet visible on the Twitter account. It seems that my provider “Strato” has a problem here. I’ll wait until tomorrow and then contact the provider if necessary. I’ll get in touch again.

    But thanks for your patience.

    Yours Andy

    Hi Mehdi!

I opened a support ticket with my provider, Strato. The problem has apparently been solved. It was due to transmission problems with my provider Strato or a network node. The posts that I wrote on WordPress last night and published despite the error message on Publicize, appeared as a tweet on Twitter about 5 hours later.

So there must have been a connection problem somewhere that caused the transmission to be cached. In the meantime, the error message with the request to check the connection to Twitter has disappeared and has not appeared again.

It was really a very strange process that I had never experienced before. But the problem seems to have gone away. I hope my description can help others who have a similar problem.

Best wishes and have a good day. And sorry for my bad english… ??

    Hi Rajesh,
since the error recurred sporadically again and because of so many issues and problems with Jetpack-Publicize lately, I now use another plugin (WP Twitter Auto Publish) with my own developer account at Twitter. And this works great and perfect for me. In the meantime, I have disabled Publicize and no more errors followed.

That’s why I’m sorry I can’t help you with Publicize.

    Regards
    Andy

    Hi @bviadmin ,
