I’m using Publicize and All in One SEO Pack, which is actually generating the OG tags, but this set up has worked fine until recently. I also use the same setup, with the same settings, on other sites and things share to Facebook just fine. I’ve scanned my site for duplicate OG tags and there aren’t any, according to AI1SEO in any case.

Everything is connect, and it shares to Twitter and LinkedIn just fine.

    URL is https://www.theresasheridan.com.

    Any suggestions for me please?

It looks like you set up the connection token for Facebook over three years ago – and the test I ran reports that the token has expired. Can I have you reset your Publicize connection for Facebook and see if that fixes the problem?

NOTE: Please ensure you follow the step to delete the app association on Facebook’s end to fully disable the existing application token prior to reconnecting from your Dashboard.

Let me know if you still have this problem after re-establishing that connection token and I’ll be happy to take a closer look.

I did all that, and it’s publicizing the post to Facebook now, but instead of sharing with the featured image, it’s sharing with a black box where an image should be, and it’s not sharing the meta description.

    Thoughts on this please?

it’s sharing with a black box where an image should be, and it’s not sharing the meta description.

When you share a post on Facebook, or when Jetpack Publicize publishes a post to your Facebook page, Facebook crawls the page and looks for Open Graph meta tags in the head to build a complete post preview (with an image, title, description, …).

Jetpack automatically creates these Open Graph Meta tags for you unless you already use another Open Graph plugin, in which case we let the other plugin handle things.

Looking at your site, you seem to use the All In One SEO plugin to manage Open Graph Meta tags. Jetpack consequently has no control over the look of your posts on Facebook.

If you continue to experience issues, I’d recommend that you contact the All In One SEO team with some examples of the posts where you experienced issues with Facebook post previews.

You can also use this Facebook tool to run some tests yourself, and see what Facebook sees when browsing your posts.

This is a new problem though. I have used the combination of AI1SEO and Jetpack for years. And if I share the post with the Jetpack sharing icons it shares fine, with the proper image.

I also use this combination on about a dozen other websites, with the same WP theme, and everything works properly. It is just my own site that isn’t working right.

Could you try publishing a new post, and if you experience the issue again, immediately enter the post URL in Facebook’s debug tool?

Let me know what errors are displayed there!

I published another post just now, and there weren’t any errors, just this warning from the debugger tool:

    Parser Mismatched Metadata
The parser’s result for this metadata did not match the input metadata. Likely, this was caused by the data being ordered in an unexpected way, multiple values being given for a property only expecting a single value, or property values for a given property being mismatched. Here are the input properties that were not seen in the parsed result: ‘fb:app_id’

I don’t really understand this, as I do have an App ID in place in my AIOSEO settings.

The debugger did show that the correct image was being shared, however while the post shared in the proper format, the image was not displayed at all. See the screenshot here.

Also, why is the post URL displaying as a number and not the permalink, even though it was saved as a draft prior to publishing?

That might actually be what’s causing the issues here. Could you go to Jetpack > Settings in your dashboard, and enable the WP.me Shortlinks module? Let me know if it helps when yo publish your next post.
