Publicize – Strange behavior with Facebook layout

As it is said in this post, https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/featured-images-not-showing-up-in-fb?replies=11, I noticed something strange with the post’s url. If I include a bitly url in the message, then everything seems to be good on Facebook. I will see how it works with further posts.

I’d like to chime in on this post because I don’t see too many others that address it. Follow this link to see an image of what posts sent to Facebook using Publicize do to images.

I do believe this is what Lancelotkiin was talking about.

In general images inserted via facebook will be 100% wide. Images inserted via Publicize are 200 x 200 and the post title follows it.

@carminemorra Facebook should automatically switch from one format to the other based on the size of the image that was added to your Open Graph meta tags, so I’m not too sure why you see 2 different behaviours depending on the app used to post the update.

Could you send me a link to the post you published via Publicize, so I can investigate further?

This featured image is 600px X 204. Also, in the image I posted had two facebook posts. The top post is a standard facebook post and how I would like my Publicize posts to look. The bottom post is how publicize posted the image.

I tried sharing that post on my own Facebook Wall, and I can’t get that large display. Here is how the update looks in my newsfeed:

According to Facebook’s guidelines, if your image is smaller than 600 x 315px, you won’t get the large display:

Could you try to insert a larger image?

Weird, for some reason I get completely different results.

None of them look like your results.

Looking at your staging site, your posts do not include any Open Graph Meta tags to help Facebook build its post previews, so that’s most likely what’s causing the issues. Could you try to configure your Open Graph plugin if you use one on that site, and let me know if it helps?
