I would like to edit the template that Publicize uses when posting my articles to facebook.

Currently the facebook post is structured like this:

    News item title

    news.item/url

    <!– link/preview start –>
    Featured Image
    News item title
    News item excerpt text
    <!– link/preview end –>

I would like to omit the opening title and url so that just the link/preview part is shown.

Could somebody please point me to where and in what file the code for this ‘template’ is located.

    Thanks

    Hi @alanm04

Are you referring to the title/link in the automatic excerpt or custom message that Publicize posts as the status, or do you mean it appears in the post preview Facebook generates itself?

If it’s the first, that is how Publicize currently works, and the only way to prevent it would be to share your links on Facebook manually instead, but we are looking into maybe changing that in future:

    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/5384

If it’s the second, it’s possible the Open Graph tags on your site are not set properly and have a URL in the og:description. OG tags are lines Jetpack or another plugin adds to your site that gives services like Facebook some information about your posts they can use to decide how to display them.

It’s possible another plugin is setting OG tags that are overriding Jetpack’s. You can find some information on how to prevent that here:
