I have my blog set up to publicize new posts to Facebook and Twitter, plus send an email to subscribers. About two weeks ago, I had a post that didn’t go to any of those. When I went to look at the (now published) draft, I saw that the Facebook/Twitter boxes were unchecked, so I assumed that I somehow accidentally turned them off. I publicized manually, and then learned only later that an email hadn’t been sent to subscribers (which I don’t even know how to change that setting). It was a one time thing, so I didn’t worry about it.

But now the same thing happened again with my latest post tonight (https://www.50by25.com/2015/06/getting-away-from-guilt-of-email.html). I deleted the original post and tried publishing it again as a new post, and this time made SURE everything was checkboxed appropriately… but the second version still didn’t publicize to any of those and I’m now doing it manually (except for the email to subscribers, because I’m not sure how to trigger that manually).

    Help!

Thanks for getting in touch! It looks like there is an issue with Jetpack’s connection on your site. That would likely explain the trouble that you’ve been having with Publicize.

Could you please try disconnecting and then reconnecting Jetpack to WordPress.com?

To do so, navigate to Dashboard > Jetpack. Then, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Disconnect from WordPress.com” link. After doing so, click the “Connect to Get Started” button to reconnect.

Please let me know when you have done so, and I will check that your connection is working properly on our end.

@ryan cowies… am also having the same issue.. i have disconnect and reconnect.. still not publicizing my post to all my connections..

    Just disconnected and reconnected.

Also, it looks like the publicize eventually ended up working about 45 minutes later last night? If that helps diagnose the problem.

Thanks for the update! It looks like the connection is working correctly now, and I see two active Publicize connections. Can you check to see if Publicize works the next time you publish a post? Let me know how it works, and we can go from there.

Seems to be working great now! I will let you know if there are any future issues.

I’m now having an issue where it publicized to Facebook and to email, but did not publicize to Twitter.

@50by25 The problem seems to be linked to the image that was associated to your post.

Could you try to publish a new post with another image, or without any image, and let me know if the problems keep happening?

Just posted again last night and it still went okay to Facebook and email, but not to Twitter.

It seems the image was rejected again.

Could you try with a smaller image, and let me know if it helps?

Why are images suddenly getting rejected? I don’t want my images to be constrained by the posting software. Has Twitter changed the policy, or is this a bug that Jetpack is trying to fix in the next release?

I can’t tell you just yet. So far all I know is that we’ve received the following error message from Twitter when trying to push the tweet for your 2 last posts:

The validation of media ids failed. [324]

Looking at the Twitter Developers forums, it seems that the issue comes up from time to time, regardless of the app used to post the tweets, but I couldn’t find any solution or work-around.

That’s why we would need to find out why Twitter rejected these 2 last images. Trying with a smaller image could help us check whether it’s a size requirement issue.

    Thanks!

This has been working for a few months, but now last night I ran into an issue again with my latest post: https://www.50by25.com/2015/10/sponsored-review-mizuno-wave-inspire-12.html

I waited to see if it was delayed, but it’s now more than 12 hours later and has not posted to Facebook/Twitter or sent an email. (I ended up publicizing on Facebook/Twitter myself but can’t send an email.) What is the issue?

I don’t see anything wrong with your Jetpack connection at the moment, and we didn’t log any error messages. However, I can see that Publicize was not triggered.

Could you try publishing another post, and let me know how it goes?

    Thanks!
