Publicize v5.9 not posting to Facebook or Twitter

    Cross posting to Facebook and Twitter has failed for all post after 01 March 2018. This appears to coincide with the release of JetPack v5.9. I have attempted to roll-back to v5.8 as some other users appear to have had success – unfortunately this did not resolve the issue. I have enabled debug in WP, and no errors are logged. I have also followed the trouble shooting guide, and other then the AppId all appears correct with the pages. Not sure what to try next.

    Hi there,

    It seems that your site’s latest posts could not be synchronized with WordPress.com, and thus were not sent to your connected social media accounts.

    By default Jetpack’s synchronization is triggered by Cron, but I see you are using a plugin, https://en-gb.www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-crontrol/, to control how Cron works on your site.

    Could you check your cron schedules and make sure your cron jobs are still running properly on your site, so this does not happen again. On our end we’ve restarted synchronization for your site, but the posts that haven’t been publicized thus far will have to be shared manually.

    Hi KokkieH,

    Thank you for the quick reply and fix.

    While DISABLE_WP_CRON is set to true on the website, a linux cron job is setup to execute “/usr/bin/curl -f -s https://romseyhockey.org.uk/wordpress/wp-cron.php” every 2 minutes. Other periodic jobs in WP are executing e.g. fixtures import into TablePress. Not sure what to change to ensure this continues to work.

    Can you see evidence of the Jetpack Sync jobs running in WP Crontrol’s logs?

    Ignoring the power cut which occurred at 11:31 (GMT) this morning and took out the cron job machine, the WP Crontrols logs are showing that the Jetpack sync jobs are executing at 5 min intervals.

    Your site doesn’t seem to be properly connected to WordPress.com at the moment. Could you try the following:

    1. Go to the Jetpack menu in your dashboard
    2. Scroll down to find the Connections area.
    3. Click the “Manage site connection” link where your site is listed.
    4. Click the red Disconnect button.
    5. Click on the “Set Up Jetpack” button to connect your site to WordPress.com again.

    Let us know how that goes.

    I have today reconnected JetPack to wordpress.com as you suggested.

    A new post on the 17 March was successfully publicized on Facebook and Twitter, so maybe everything will be well for here on in.
