    Jetpack Mechanic ??

That’s weird, it seems that this post wasn’t synchronized with WordPress.com at all. Could you tell me more about how you published it? Do you use a plugin or an app to write your posts? Do you publish them directly, or do you schedule them?

It would help if you could walk me through the steps you followed to publish that post, so I can try to reproduce the problem on my end.

    Thanks!

Thanks for your reply Jeremy. It was very vanilla: I created the post in the WordPress post editor, pasted in the link to the video, set the tags and other fields, and hit publish. Are there any debugging settings I can activate for the next post I publish?

    Thanks, Graham

Alright, thank you! That’s indeed fairly standard.

Could you try to deactivate the content scheduler plugin, and then publish a new post and let me know if Publicize works?

    Thanks!

Thanks Jeremy. I haven’t tried that yet, but I did just publish another post that worked. I’m wondering if the embedded YouTube video in the post that didn’t Publicize could have something to do with it. I’ll try disabling content scheduler next time I publish something with an embedded video. I’ll keep you informed.

    Thanks, Graham

Let me know how that goes!

If the embedded YouTube video appears to be the problem, could you let me know how you inserted that video into your post? Did you use a shortcode?

    Thread Starter Graham Stoney

    (@greyham)

Will do. I haven’t tried another embedded video yet; but no, I didn’t use a shortcode. I just pasted the link into the WordPress editor.

Hey Jeremy. I’ve just published another post with an embedded YouTube video, and once again it doesn’t publicize for me. ?? :

I tried disabling Content Scheduler and MailPress, then did a couple of test posts with embedded YouTube videos; but it made no difference.

It may be a plugin conflict, but with 46 plugins I’m not sure where to start. Any clue what to look at next?

    Thanks,
    Graham

It seems that this post wasn’t synchronized with WordPress.com.

Could you try to deactivate the following plugins, and then publish a new post?

    bad-behavior
    wordfence
    wp-spamfree

    Thanks!

    Hi Jeremy,

I’ve found the culprit with a binary search of all my plugins. In hindsight not entirely shocking, it’s this:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/video-thumbnails/

When I disable Video Thumbnails, my posts with embedded videos get publicized. I’m very grateful for you looking into this, and would love either a fix (to either plugin), a workaround, or a suggestion of an alternative plugin to Video Thumbnails that works with JetPack.

    Thanks,
    Graham

    Thanks for the extra details.

I’ll try to install that plugin on a test site of mine, to understand what’s causing the conflict and how we can fix it.

    I’ll keep you updated.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Hm, I can’t seem to reproduce the problem. I’ve tried publishing a few videos where I had inserted a Youtube video, everything seemed to be working properly.

Do you mind walking me through the steps you usually follow to publish a post including a video?

Could you also let me know if you made any changes to the Video Thumbnails plugin settings?

    Thanks!

    My simplest test is:
    – Disable all plugins except Jetpack & Video Thumbnails
    – Posts -> Add New
    – Title “Test #x”
    – In Visual editor: “See this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4htCif0cW7Q”
    – Publish

My Video Thumbnail settings have “Save Thumbnails to Media Library”, “Automatically Set Featured Image” and “Posts” enabled.

I’m happy to give you an admin login on my blog if that helps; just private message me. Thanks again Jeremy for helping track this down!

    Cheers,
    Graham

That’s annoying, I can’t seem to reproduce the problem. With the same plugin settings, and following the instructions you posted above, Publicize appears to be working properly:
    https://i.wpne.ws/dNA4
    https://i.wpne.ws/dMv4
    https://i.wpne.ws/dNRY

Could you contact me via this contact form and mention this thread, so we can run some more tests on your site?

    Thanks!
