• I’ve got a strange issue, and I’m not sure how it happened.

I was going to publish a new page and found out that I could only have /aci-2 instead of /aci for the permalink. I found out that there was already a page that was taking the /aci spot already published. It seemed to appear the same time I tried to publish this one for some reason.
Anyway, this phantom page is apparently published on my site and is not showing up on the admin side. There is nothing for me to delete, nothing in the drafts or trash. nothing. But I can’t make a new page that doesn’t have a ‘-2’ in the permalink. Or get rid of the strange one that might throw off people visiting the site.

Any ideas how to get rid of it and reclaim the non -2 permalink??

    Thanks,
    Paul

Check the posts and posts’ trash. Not just pages. Might be in there.

Not in there either. Is there a way it can be manually deleted?

in the database you have control to remove the duplicate page.

Where do I look in the database for this mystery page? And if I delete it there will I reclaim the permalink it’s using?

This *should* be findable somewhere in the WordPressdashboard, without having to look in the MySQL database.

If not an existing or deleted post or page, could be a custom post type that you, your plugin or your theme has created. Check them too.

It ought to be in the wp-posts table, but not necessarily (depends which plugin you might have installed). You’d need to use the phpMyAdmin tool via your hosting control panel.

Checked everywhere I could think of, nothing I can see to delete. Looked in phpMyAdmin under wp-posts.. cant find it in there either. How is that possible?
