    Hi,

    I’ve just installed and activated the plugin and am trying to create my first ad. I’ve read the tutorial.

    On the Add New/Edit Ad screen, there is no “Publish” button, and I’m unable to save the ad I’ve created.

    Similarly, if I try to create it using the wizard, the “Save” button on the final screen does nothing when I click on it.

    The ads that I create (but can’t publish) show up on the admin list of ads page, as drafts. I’ve tried the Quick Edit option from that page, and changed the status to “Publish”. When I then try to insert it into a widget using the shortcode, the widget is displayed empty (no content). If I try using the Advance Ads widget, where the ad name shows as an option, nothing appears, not even an empty widget.

    Am I missing something obvious?

    To be more accurate: the entire “Publish” metabox is missing, not just the Publish button.

    Hi hommealone,

    Thanks for reporting your issue.

    This is not the expected behavior of Advanced Ads.

    When you open the inspector of your browser, do you notice any errors in the Console tab there?

    Best regards,
    Joachim

    Thanks for your reply!

    On the “add/edit Ad” screen I get a couple of errors:

    First) (seems to be about a badly formed font declaration in a social media feed plugin)

    11:33:01.326 downloadable font: OS/2: Bad sTypoLineGap, setting it to 0: -64 (font-family: “SlickRemix” style:normal weight:normal stretch:normal src index:1) source: https://asbpe.org/wp-content/plugins/feed-them-social/admin/css/fonts/SlickRemix.woff?p9iqv 1 admin.css:1:11

    Disabling that plugin clears the error, but doesn’t fix the missing “Publish” metabox.

    Second)

    11:33:05.142 SyntaxError: expected expression, got ‘?’ 1 build.min.js:2:300067

    That one’s from here:
    source:
    https://widgets.wp.com/notifications/build.min.js?69ec0877ed8c70eb602c

    Possibly related to Classic Widgets plugin? No, disabling that plugin does not clear the error. Maybe Jetpack?

    Third and lastly, this notice [not error])

    Missing data from PHP (wpNotesArgs).

    Location:
    https://widgets.wp.com/notifications/build.min.js?:2:300067

    Any suggestions?

    Sorry, I missed another one… or maybe it is the same one, displayed differently in the console in Chrome rather than Firefox.

    From:
    https://s0.wp.com/wp-content/mu-plugins/notes/admin-bar-v2.js?ver=10.9-202219

    Missing data from PHP (wpNotesArgs).

    BTW, deactivating Jetpack does clear this error, but does not restore the “Publish” metabox.

    I also tried:

    Download a fresh copy of the plugin in case there was an installation glitch;
    Rename the plugin directory using FTP;
    Manually upload the fresh copy;
    Delete the old renamed directory;
    Re-enable in the plugins admin screen.

    No help :- (

    A temporary workaround is to run the below in the dev console to update/publish the ad.

    jQuery('#post').submit()

    Cheers.

    Thanks for sharing this workaround. I am still struggling to replicate your issues on a test site. We are investigating what happens here.

    I do use a lot of plugins, and disabling them all to find a possible conflict is not a good option for me. Perhaps if we compare the plugins that I use with those that @fishsaidno uses, we might spot a few of the most promising candidates to test/disable. Perhaps we both use a plugin that’s relatively rare, or we both use one that seems more likely to interact with the “edit” screen.

    Here’s my list. Hopefully @fishsaidno can post one here too.

    Advanced Custom Fields
    Advanced Custom Fields: Theme Code
    Advanced Editor Tools (previously TinyMCE Advanced)
    Akismet Anti-Spam
    Auto Upload Images
    Better Search Replace
    Classic Editor
    Classic Widgets
    Contact Form 7
    CPT Bootstrap Carousel
    Custom Post Type Permalinks
    Custom Post Type UI
    Delete Pending Comments
    Disable Comments
    Duplicator
    Easy Updates Manager
    Feed Them Social
    Heartbeat Control by WP Rocket
    Honeypot for Contact Form 7
    HTML Editor Syntax Highlighter
    Jetpack
    LH Archived Post Status
    List category posts
    Login Security Solution
    Post Snippets
    Post Type Switcher
    Really Simple SSL
    reCaptcha by BestWebSoft
    ReCaptcha v2 for Contact Form 7
    Redirection
    Reveal Template
    Sassy Social Share
    Simple Custom Post Order
    Term Management Tools
    Title Remover
    UpdraftPlus
    User Switching

    WP-Optimize - Clean, Compress, Cache
    WP Help
    WPS Hide Login
    WPZOOM Shortcodes
    Zero Spam for WordPress

    Let’s see where we overlap!

    I’m away from my machine for the weekend.

    Though, looking at that list the only plugins used over here that I hadn’t already tried disabling are:

    • Contact Form 7
    • LH Archived Post Status
    • WPS Hide Login

    Suspicious on LH Archived Post Status, that one does add a metabox to posts.

    Hopefully something there?

    @fishsaidno @schmidt25 @shawfactor

    @fishsaidno – your suspicion is correct. Disabling the LH Archived Post Status plugin corrects the issue with the Advanced Ads plugin, and the Publish metabox is again visible. You’d mentioned that you weren’t sure when this problem began for you. (I’ve just installed Advanced Ads for the first time.) Apparently LH Archived Posts Status has recently had a major revision; perhaps that’s when it broke things for you.

    @schmidt25 – Perhaps you and the author of LH Archived Post Status @shawfactor can put your heads together to resolve this conflict?

    I’ll post about this on the LH Archived Post Status WP forum as well, and hopefully the conflict can be resolved.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/conflict-w-advanced-ads-plugin/

    Please feel free to add to my explanation there if it will help.

    Ivd made a change to exclude the advanced ads custom post type from eligibility for archiving in version 3.01

    This should fix the issue but I’ve not tested it properly as I don’t use advanced ads

    Side note: Jan – sorry, no harm meant. I was just trying to bring together two plugin authors whose plugins have a code conflict. I guess I didn’t really understand the etiquette of @ mentions. Thanks for pointing this out, I’ll be more careful!

    As noted in the thread in the LH Archived Post Status, the update to that plugin didn’t help for me.

    fishsaidno: can you confirm that it is still not fixed in your setup?
