Published Feature List Does not Match Reality

  • I downloaded and installed the free version because the feature list indicates a lot of functionality included in the free version. Immediately after installation I had my doubts as the only type of form I could create without upgrading is a contact form. Strike 1! So I created one.

    Nowhere can I see how to do even basic conditional formatting (which is, as you guessed, supposedly in all version of the product). For example, I inserted a checkbox group. First, I cannot limit the number of selections. A user could select everything, even if I wanted to limit the number of boxes checked. Strike 2!

    When I searched specifically for conditional formatting, I find the website states: Conditional logic is a Pro Only Feature. Strike 3!

    I’m outta here.

    Sorry for the confusion on this! And I’m sorry to hear you are upset about the advanced features being included in the premium version.

    You can create other types of forms in the free version, but we don’t yet have templates to create the form for you.

    It sounds like you missed the section on the page that lists features that are included in the Pro version, including conditional logic. It’s under the heading ‘Formidable Forms Pro’ near the top of the page.

    Hi – Thank you for taking the time to reply. Maybe I missed on the page you mentioned; however, I did not miss it here: https://prntscr.com/pi4nfo. You might consider checking over the feature comparison in detail.

    Don’t get me wrong, I realize everyone is out to make a living. That said, having only a single option after installing the plugin was extremely disappointing, especially what I had seen on the features comparison page.

    Coming from the Joomla world since the first days, I have grown accustomed to RS Form Pro. It had every feature I ever needed, including conditional formatting, at a price that didn’t break the bank. Forms is one area of WordPress where an affordable solution with excellent features for unlimited sites seems to be lacking.

    That feature comparison page is for the premium plans. Here’s a feature page to compare free vs Pro forms. This comparison is also included inside the plugin.

    The WordPress market is much more mature than Joomla, but it also means you get better support and more dependable products. I wish you the best, and hope you can find what you’re looking for.

    Thanks for the clarification.

    I would not disagree that core WordPress is much more mature than Joomla. IMHO the Joomla dev team got complacent, or perhaps even lazy. That cost the Joomla community dearly.

    On your point about better support and more dependable products, however, I would have to disagree. Certainly there are a slew of products for both platforms that are great, and there are also some that are not so great. A great product does not have to cost a small fortune, and a moderately-priced product does not always feature poor support.

    It is unfortunate that the folks behind RS Form Pro have not made a version for WordPress. If they did, and maintained the same quality product at a similar price point, it would certainly make the WordPress forms market more interesting.
