Published Post Disappeared!

  • I published a post about 4 hours ago

    Having already recieved notification of one visitors comment, and shared and checked the successfully published post, it has now disappeared!

    The URL shows a ‘not found’ message
    The post in my dashboard is at a much earlier stage of editing

    Any ideas why, or if I can save it?

  • Is the comment also gone?

    Sounds like the a backup of your SQL database got restored… If that’s nothing you did, you may want to check with your hosting company to see if they had a hiccup or something.

    The comment left is still there on my comments page, just not listing as being attached to any post!

    How would a backup get restored without my deliberately restoring it?

    I had thought it possible your hosting company had to evert to their own backup of your MySQL database… but if the comment is still there, then that must not be the case.

    WordPress normally saves revisions of posts. Is there a later revision of your post available that you can restore?

    If not, then nothing else comes to mind. Someone else reading this thread may have better ideas. Sorry.

    Have you tried repairing your database?
