Publishing Moderation Plugin?

I take it no one has any ideas? I was thinking some sort of queue might be possible…

Maybe I’m understanding fully, but I do believe contributor can submit posts to moderation…

If you give all authors contributor status, then they can’t post live. Or you could use the Role Manager plugin.

Yeah, I realize that Contributors can submit posts to moderation, however the Blip.tv cross-post feature won’t allow posting by Contributors (you get an error message). So I have to have the user roles set to Author, but then they’re not moderated.

I wasn’t aware of a “Role Manager” plugin, but I’ll see if I can find it. Do you have a link?

Are there any instructions on installing this one? I just want to make sure I put all of the files in the right place. Do I just upload the entire folder to my plugins directory?

Yes, and after activating it you’ll have a page in the admin to manage your users/roles.

Figured it out, thanks for your help. Unfortunately, this didn’t work with the Blip cross-post function. I guess with Blip, you either have the capability to publish a post, or you don’t. There’s no way a post can be created as a draft for any user, nor are there any special roles that allow users the ability to publish a post *for moderation* by an admin or editor. Publishing a post means the post goes live right then and there. Crap.

I have a similar question, and I’ve been told by a myriad of people that it just isn’t possible, but it never hurts to ask.

Basically what I’m looking to do is the ability to edit PUBLISHED Pages and Posts, save those edits without immediately publishing them.

So: I’d go to page on the site, and realize I didn’t like a line of text. I’d log in and edit it, save my work, but users wouldn’t see it. My boss would then check the edit and (as he has publishing authority and I don’t) he’d publish it, thus replacing the old page with the offending text.

I’ve got Role Manager installed which has been a big help in terms of creating a user that can only save both pages and posts initially. But now I’d love the ability to be able to SAVE post-publish edits, without actually PUBLISHING those edits.

Nope, not easily possible. All Posts and Pages, published or not, have a single entry in the database. Publishing them is just a matter of setting a flag saying “it’s published”. If you save changes to it, then it changes that one, and only one, entry. Meaning that your changes are published immediately.

For what you’re suggesting to work, you’d need every post to have two entries, one a draft and one published. You could edit the draft and then replace the published one when you were ready to do so. But this would require extensive changes, probably beyond the scope of a plugin.

Doesn’t simply setting the time-stamp into the future make this possible? I just tried it on my blog, and it works.

I’m new to WordPress. How do I go about setting the time-stamp in the future?

I want the ability for users to edit pages without publishing them right away.
