Publishing WordPress post to Blogger using IFTTT

Well, what are you doing really truly is publishing duplicate content, regardless of whether or not the rel='canonical' is “correct” or not. Google will note that the text is duplicate and penalize both sites.

Is there any particular reason as to why you’re duplicating content on the Blogger blog, rather than just posting to inform your Blogger subscribers of your new WordPress site? Or, perhaps simply just sharing a title, link, and short summary on the Blogger blog?

Obviously publishing same content with canonical on blogger is to get more traffic.

As per your advise everytime i publish WP post to blogger with just image and title and with a brief of pot i have to goto blogger and edit post to put a brief because ifttt does not have a property of post excerpt.

I wonder why my canonical tag with original link changes when post is published to blogger.

What do i need to do to fix?

No, not when it crosses domains like that. It’s akin to copying someone’s video/music/photo, but saying “No copyright infringement intended.” It doesn’t matter what you label it as, it’s still theft. In this case, it doesn’t matter what you say is canonical, since it’s across domains the search engines have no way to know who is factually original and who is theft, so they penalize both.

Canonical is for in-domain use. For example, you want them to know that what’s visible at example.com/this-specific-post/ is original, whereas what’s visible at example.com/tag/posts is just a canonical copy.

IFTTT indeed does not have a way to share just a small bit, sometimes you just have to do things manually. ??

I mean, you can keep doing what you’re doing, but since you asked for advice, I just wanted to let you know that currently both sites are going to be penalized by the search engines if you keep sharing duplicate content.

So how do i take care of it from now on?

Also shall i delete posts on blogger and resubmit in different way?

If it were me, I’d just leave a post on the Blogger blog letting everyone who follows you there know that you have moved to your new WordPress site, along with instructions for how to subscribe there. Then, just stop posting to the Blogger blog.

Alternatively, keep posting to the Blogger blog, but only with small excepts or summaries linked to the real post on the WordPress blog, though there really is no automated way to do this that I know of.
