Generally, I really like it. It’s light and has room to breathe. However, I have a couple of issues:

Is a screenshot. First off you need to watch the spelling. In the “use Firefox or a decent browser” thing you should have “you’re” and not “your”. Petty I know, but it’s important if you want to be taken seriously.

Second up, I am not a fan of people telling me to upgrade my browser. I can’t. I am stuck at work with IE and I have to deal with it (as do many hundreds of thousands of people round the world). As a designer you should be making your blog compatible (at least to a minimum level) with all the browsers including IE.

With comment two in mind, the date is sitting over the day in the post title in IE. The sidebar (if that’s what it is) is dropping to the bottom too.

Other than that, it’s a smart job that with a couple of minor tweaks will work really well.

Yeah, I have considered it, unfortunately company rules ban pen drives – we don’t even have USB enabled!

eak! thats just harsh. sorry to hear it. being the director of IT myself I manage several networks ranging in size and we encourage all our users here to check out other browsers and we use firefox network wide.

I’m stuck with IE at work too but it’s not important enough to carry a flash drive around.

I like the overlapping date but only if the day and date were different colors from each other.

I’m guessing the word cloud is why the sidebar doesn’t fit in IE. Add a couple more pixels and it should be fine.

I’n not an expert but as I recall, IE doesn’t handle margins and padding very well. Allow for a slightly wider content area or make your sidebar a little narrower or reduce the space between elements.

Sorry, my point about the word cloud is that it may be a fixed width that is going over the sidebr width, thus getting “bumped” down below the posts.

You don’t need a screenshot – just a search for “sidebar down IE” and you’ll find hundreds of posts about the same. Your site suffers from that syndrome ??

No, it doesn’t. It has to do with the fact that IE doubles margins on elements (e.g., you specify 50px and it gives you 100px). This has been going on for years, along with other box model issues.

So, it’s okay to suggest that people switch browsers, although history tells us that most won’t, for whatever reason. OTOH, cross-browser compatibility is an important issue, if you want your designs to look pretty much pixel-perfect.
