What is the use case here? Purchase note is for customers, not admin reference.

Yes, I am just trying to avoid using plugins. I would like to add some reference text to some of my products which I would like to see in order page after customer is placed an order but I do not want customer to see it. I saw some codes in ” templ/order/order-details-item.php” related to purchase note. It would be safer and better just add text to Woocommerce’s core feature. Also if Woocommerce has Barcode feature like Shopify, it will be really nicer. Thank you

It doesn’t make sense for WooCommmerce core to do this in this case. There are actions/filters available to output custom content in most places, including the items table, where this content could be pulled and output if needed.

If you need help with this, perhaps post on jobs.wordpress.net – a developer could even introduce a new field for this data to avoid using ‘purchase note’ if more suitable.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will post this on it using the link that you suggested.
