    Hi

I’ve got purchases tracking set up which works, but only every now and then… i.e. some purchases are being recorded, but not all (Only around 1 in every 7 or 8 purchases).
My conversion source is “Website (Google Analytics (UA))”

My Google rep assisted me, but I cannot get hold of them anymore…

How do I go about sorting this problem, which is surely quite urgent as I would like to use Conversion tracking on my google ad campaigns..

    Any advice would be great

    thanks, Bruce

    Hi,

Are we talking about imported purchase conversions in Google Ads?
If yes, it can happen that some purchases are not connected to Google Ads paid clicks and they will not included in your Google Ads reports as conversions.

    No, I understand that.
My purchases aren’t getting into Google Analytics.. The trigger doesn’t seem to trigger, yet sometimes does. Which I find weird. It doesn’t trigger more than it triggers.

If you open the Behavior – Site content – All pages report and filter the table on “order-received” – do you see each order or just the order ID-s that have ecommerce transaction reporting in ecommerce reports?

    (@brucemacg)

    I see every order….

So in last 7 days, I’ve had 21 orders. 3 of the orders have a “page value”, which are the orders that Google recognises as being ecommerce transations.. There is nothing strange or different on the google analytics report to suggest why one order is recognised, the others are not…?

    Thanks,

That means GA tracking is working and users get back to your order received page but for some reason transaction tracking does not get fired.

Could you please check the same content report and add “browser”, then “device category”, perhaps other technological dimensions to see whether there is a pattern in any of them? Like all order received pages with order value 0 are from Safari?

    I viewed 4 months of Order-received data.

    I’ll first tell you what it’s not…

It’s not Variable products vs simple products. (i.e. not the product in woocommerce)
Technology wise… I see Chrome, Safari, Samsung Internet, Internet explorer
    I see Android, Mac, Windows
    Java support, yes and No
I see Paid advertising, Direct and Organic traffic.
So, no pattern at all, between those with values, those without.

So, I just started looking at random things and stumbled upon “Shopping Stage”. The various stages all look ok, but I have spotted a difference.
All transactions that end up with a value, end with shopping stage = “TRANSACTION’.
The transactions that record no value do not have ANY “TRANSACTION” stage at all…

I don’t quite know what that means but this is really the only difference that I have spotted.

I’m hoping you can help, or give me further pointers. Thanks s much for the time you have put in.

    Thanks, Bruce

    Hi brucemag,
I have the exact same issue. With the debug mode I could see that for some product the purchase ends with a “purchase” gtm event, and they are normally recorded on Google Analytics, for other products, the transaction ends with “begin_checkout” and despite the transaction tag firing, the value and the purchase are not recorded. I can’t figure out why. My shopping stages are the same of yours.

    Hi,

There is another thread where we discovered that with Cookiebot consent manager there seems to be some odd behavior in ecommerce data flow. Perhaps you are using another cookie consent manager, but the effect might be the same:

    Hi

I’m not using a cookie consent manager

I disabled all cacheing, but still no closer to a solution.. This is also above my pay grade, so I’m not sure how to proceed
    1. Will another plugin show different behaviour?
    2. Where could I get someone (i.e. a proper developer) to look at my problem?

    cheers, Bruce

    Hi Bruce,

Can I somehow place an order on your site without the need to use my bank card?

    Thread Starter brucemacg

    (@brucemacg)

Choose something cheap, anything from this page
    https://www.watersportswarehouse.co.za/product-category/surf-gear/hats-caps/
(actually you can choose anything, on any page, but these are all really simple products…)

When you checkout choose “Direct Bank Transfer”
A lot of our stock is “complex”, so we don’t take your money immediately. we check your order, confirm availability, confirm it’s sensible then send you a payment link.

For Google Analytics, etc, we register the sale on “order-received”, which does not mean that you have paid already.

    Thanks, Bruce

    Hi,

I placed a test order and the GA pageview hit included the necessary transaction data (order ID 20427)

However, with v1.12 and v1.13, you should update your GTM setup in order to decouple ecommerce data from GA pageview hits:

    Hi Thomas

I followed the article, and it was confusing, BUT, I’m having great progress. My purchases are going through to Analytics. Something funny happens between Analytics and sending the conversions back to Google Ads, but I believe that’s all to do with the Attrition model on my Google conversion (Which I don’t really understand, but I’m researching)

But anyway, Everything is perfect on Analytics which matches Woocommerce orders. Even the Analytics–>Acquisition–>Google Ads–> Campaign View is 100%.

Thank you very much for assisting me, I was not very hopeful that I would solve this without hiring someone..

    thanks, Bruce
